Two Sundsvall neighbors, identified only as Eva and Birger, first noticed a powerful odor three weeks ago and then began finding maggots and flies, The Local reported. Advertisement "In the mornings when I woke up there were maggots on the floor and the flies everywhere. The maggots crawled away when it is light and come back in the dark," Eva said. When Eva informed their housing management company about the problem, she says she was told to just vacuum the maggots up. However, the smell persisted and the larva and flies did not go away. The neighbors then called environmental authorities to deal with the problem, but the smell lingered until it was traced it to a dead body next door. To add insult to injury, Eva and her husband were forced to throw out their bed and vacuum cleaner, costing them about $2,400. The building management told them they would not be reimbursed for any amount of money, as the insurance the building has does not cover tenants' personal property. The couple's insurer, however, paid them a few hundred dollars, The Local said. Advertisement The name of the deceased neighbor, who had been dead about 2 1/2 weeks, was not reported.
