PIERCE COUNTY, Wash., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Washington state woman who made an obscene gesture at another driver may face criminal charges for causing an accident, police say.
The 23-year-old driver -- whose name was not reported -- "flipped the bird" at another driver Monday, and then lost control of her vehicle and flipped her car in Pierce County, The Seattle Times reported.
"It could have been a lot worse," Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill said.
He said the woman, driving a 2000 Ford Taurus, became irritated when the driver in a 1997 Subaru Outback, also unidentified, did not yield to her.
"She got very agitated and she flipped the bird at the other driver," he said. "When she did that, she failed to maintain control of her vehicle and came into contact with the Subaru."
Both vehicles went off the road and both drivers a passenger woman were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the Taurus could face criminal charges of reckless driving for causing an accident.
