LOXAHATCHEE, Fla., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Organizers of the Streak Sunsport Gardens 5K Benefit Run & Walk in Florida said the event marks the first clothing-optional run in the state.

Daniel Phillips, 25, an organizer of the Aug. 27 event and a member of college nudist group Vita Nuda, said runners at the Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort in Loxahatchee will only be asked to wear athletic shoes, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported Monday.

"You can do interesting stuff while nude," Phillips said. "You can do cool stuff."

"In a clothed society, people tend to be different," Phillips said. "Nudists ... no one judges anyone, no one has any expectations for anything."

Phillips said he is hoping the run will be the first in a series of clothing-optional 5K runs he plans to organize next year.
