PLANTATION, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- A Florida alligator trapper said an 8-foot reptile he captured in a residential neighborhood will make a fine addition to his live gator wrestling show.

Paul Bedard Jr., who was called to the border of Plantation and Sunrise shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday on a report of an 8-foot alligator wandering around, said he tracked it down and tired it out before securing it with a strand of tape about 2:30 a.m., the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

Authorities said alligators over 4 feet long in residential areas are usually euthanized shortly after being captured, but Bedard said the gator he nabbed Wednesday will be taken to Everglades Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale.

Bedard said the gator will spend about a year in his live wrestling show before retiring to an alligator farm in Homestead.

"He's a good size for a wrestling gator; he's got a nice little personality," Bedard said.
