Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe BROOKSVILLE, Fla., July 1 (UPI) -- A Florida man said his mortgage company violated foreclosure laws and trashed his home while he and his wife were away for a few weeks. Chris Boudreau of Brooksville said he and his wife returned home after being away for a few weeks and found 21 Mortgage Corp. of Knoxville, Tenn., had hired a company to change his locks and clear out the house, WTSP-TV, Tampa, Fla., reported Friday. Advertisement He said everything from the home had been thrown into a dumpster and he found his wife's wedding dress cut to shreds. "When she saw what happened, she actually went into in the dumpster trying to go through the stuff," Boudreau said. "She was crying her eyes out." The Hernando Sheriff's Office said it is not investigating the incident because it is a civil matter. However, Altman disagrees. "Although Boudreau had fallen behind a bit in his mortgage, there were no foreclosure proceedings in effect," Altman said. "That means the people who trashed Boudreau's home and took his possessions should be arrested and prosecuted like common criminals." The mortgage company refused to comment, WTSP-TV reported.
