300 pounds of pot found in abandoned truck

CONROE, Texas, June 17 (UPI) -- Authorities investigating an 18-wheeler abandoned on the side of a Texas road with the engine running discovered about 300 pounds of marijuana inside.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrived at the truck, which was at the side of U.S. 59 near FM 1314, early Wednesday morning and found it was abandoned with the engine running, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.

The marijuana was discovered in the cab of the vehicle, deputies said. They said they do not know what happened to the driver or how long the truck had been at the side of the road.
