CARLISLE, Pa., May 26 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man said he knocked out a wall at his home to remove the small plane he spent nine years constructing in his basement.
Dan Reeves of Lower Allen Township said he and three friends dismantled the basement wall to remove the Vans RV7A low-wing two-seater from the home after his other ideas for its removal proved impractical, WGAL-TV, Lancaster, Pa., reported Thursday.
"I thought of different ways to get it out," he said. "I thought about going through the floor, building a glass floor so instead of a coffee table sitting here you could see the airplane project sitting in the basement. My wife wouldn't have anything to do with that though."
Reeves said he has plans for the plane now that it has been freed from the confines of his basement.
"I just love flying," he said. "I love the perspective it gives you when you're flying over the countryside. There's nothing like it."
