Police: Driver bans smoking, gets punched

CARLISLE, Pa., May 25 (UPI) -- Pennsylvania State Police said they arrested a man accused of punching a driver and grabbing the steering wheel after the motorist refused to let him smoke.

Investigators said Alexander Lewis, 34, repeatedly punched the 61-year-old driver at about 10 p.m. EDT Monday in a car traveling on Interstate 81 south in Middlesex Township, The (Harrisburg, Pa.) Patriot-News reported Tuesday.

Police said Lewis also grabbed the steering wheel and nearly caused the car to crash.

Lewis was arrested and charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
