CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 16 (UPI) -- Police in North Carolina said an attempted burglar abandoned his plans when he tripped inside the home and discharged his gun.
Investigators said the man broke into the Charlotte home early Monday using a brick to shatter a sliding glass door and tripped while entering the home, causing his gun to discharge on impact, The Charlotte Observer reported Monday.
Police said the sound of the gun awoke residents, who called police. Officers said the man was gone by the time they arrived but they discovered a bullet lodged in the wall of the home.
Officers searched the area with a K-9 unit, but they were unable to locate the intruder.
