Online Obama photo replaced with carrots

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 3 (UPI) -- Swedish Wikipedia officials said someone using the king's name switched the picture on U.S. President Barack Obama's entry to a bushel of carrots.

Axel Pettersson, a spokesman for Wikipedia in Sweden, said someone using the alias Kungcarl, a shortened name for Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, replaced the picture of Obama at 9:25 a.m. Monday with a photo depicting the orange root vegetables, The Local reported Monday.

"That's really strange," Pettersson said.

Pettersson said the carrot image, which was attributed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was removed and replaced with the official White House portrait of the president about an hour later.

The spokesman said he learned the same user had replaced Obama's image with a turtle picture earlier in the morning, but the cyber "graffiti" was corrected less than a minute later.

Swiss climber sets new Eiger speed record

GRINDELWALD, Switzerland, May 3 (UPI) -- A Swiss climber says he set a speed record by scaling the north face of the Eiger in 2 hours, 28 minutes, beating the previous record by nearly 20 minutes.

Dani Arnold, 27, said he scaled the 13,025-foot Bernese Alps mountain's north face, which involves a 5,905-foot vertical ascent, April 20 and beat the speed record set in 2008 by Ueli Steck, Swissinfo reported Monday.

"Before I started climbing I was afraid, but once I set off, those thoughts were gone," the climber said.

"I really didn't do any special training at all," Arnold said. "I'm a mountain guide, so I'm always out climbing, but the best way for me to prepare is mentally, not physically. I already have nerves of steel and that's important."
