CLEVELAND, April 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Cleveland said thieves used a hacksaw to steal a plaque honoring Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster from a post.

Tracey Kirksey, executive director of the Glenville Development Corp., told police the plaque was stolen about two weeks ago and the thieves may have believed it was bronze due to the color of the aluminum, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Wednesday.

Kirksey said the St. Clair Avenue plaque, which was originally erected in 2003 near the house where the pair created the super hero, will be replaced. She said the replacement plaque will correct the original's misspelling of Jerry Siegel's name.
