JENSEN, Fla., April 11 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said an allegedly intoxicated driver apparently mistook a hearing aid for a cigarette and tried to light it during a traffic stop.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office said David Wagner, 53, of Jensen, was pulled over at about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday and a deputy who detected the scent of alcohol noticed the man attempt to light the hearing aid while he was calling for another deputy to complete a driving under the influence investigation, TCPalm.com reported Monday.
A breath test found Wagner's blood-alcohol content was well over the legal limit for driving in the state and the arrest affidavit said the motorist admitted to drinking "a half a bottle of Jagermeister" earlier in the evening.
Wagner was arrested on a DUI charge.
