WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., April 7 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a man who threatened suicide was naked when he used an AK-47 to shoot a $65,000 SWAT team robot.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said the West Melbourne man, whose name was not released, was known to possess several guns and was inside his home threatening suicide and declaring he would shoot anyone who came into the home.

"He said he'd shoot anyone he could," sheriff's Lt. Bruce Barnett said.

Deputies sent the robot, which was outfitted with cameras, into the home. Video footage from the robot's cameras depict a room-by-room search, ending at the man's bedroom, where the suspect was found nude with an AK-47. He fired several shots at the robot, deputies said.

The man was eventually apprehended and charged with criminal mischief. The robot was sent back to the manufacturer for repairs, the sheriff's office said.
