DARWIN, Australia, April 5 (UPI) -- A fisherman authorities said was drunk escaped serious injury when he left his car teetering on the edge of a Darwin, Australia, wharf Sunday night.
Police say the 30-year-old fisherman from Queensland had been drinking when he attempted to move his car just after midnight at Fisherman's Wharf.
He drove into a rubbish bin and a parked vehicle, and narrowly avoided a sleeping man, before running over the wharf railings -- leaving wheels of the car dangling 23 feet above the harbor.
"Fire and Rescue attended and pulled the vehicle to safety," Watch Commander Daniel Shean told the Australian Broadcasting Corp. Sunday.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"Definitely alcohol was a contributing factor to that one," Shean said.
