Unhappy returns! Thief steals tax files

ORLANDO, Fla., March 29 (UPI) -- Police in Orlando, Fla., are investigating an auto break-in in which the thief or thieves reportedly made off with $1 million worth of items, authorities said.

It wasn't the Bose speakers or the checkbook or credit cards or phones or computer hardware that Griff Griffith identified as the big-ticket item pinched from his Dodge Charger -- it was the electronic tax files Griffith says were worth $1 million alone, the Orlando Sentinel reported Monday.

The police report indicated the total value of the stolen items was $1,011,554.

Griffith, 52, of Oregon told police the thief punched out the lock and stole the items while he was at Orlando's Mall at Millenia during the weekend. Because he uses a keyless remote to enter his vehicle, he said he didn't notice anything awry until he left the mall.
