Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla., March 29 (UPI) -- Residents in a Florida neighborhood caused a stir in recent days after their homeowners association reportedly put the squeeze on a kid-run lemonade stand. Members of the group representing Prosperity Harbor in North Palm Beach filed a formal complaint against several children running the stand, WPTV, West Palm Beach, reported Sunday. Advertisement The complaint says signs and businesses are prohibited in the neighborhood. "We didn't know there was a problem … We just received a letter a couple of weeks ago saying that they were trying to shut us down," Debra Cohen, one of the young entrepreneurs involved in the stand, told the station. Cohen is one of several children ages 5 to 10 selling lemonade. Business partner Rachel Strauss said proceeds from their sales are sent to benefit a school attended by another associate's disabled sister. Parents of the youngsters acknowledged nearby residents received complaints but said the number is fewer than 10. Elizabeth Lerner, the mother of one of the children, said she doesn't know what all the fuss is about. "It's a sense of camaraderie. They're having a good time," she told WPTV. "It's keeping them focused on a positive task."
