The gigantic sign is planned to be installed on the facade of a new shopping center to be anchored by a Walgreens drugstore.
"If this was somehow going to enhance the Las Vegas Strip, drive tourism or produce a compelling marketing message, that would be fine," Jones said. "But it's none of those things. It's gaudy for the sake of gaudy."
"We hate it," she said.
The developers behind the shopping center, BPS Partners, are asking county officials to approve variances from five zoning guidelines to allow them to install the gargantuan sign, which would otherwise exceed maximum sign size regulations.
A representative for BPS Partners declined to comment, the Sun said.
