Pricey BMW stolen at auto show

DETROIT, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Detroit Police said a $140,000 BMW brought into town by company executives for the North American International Auto Show was stolen from in front of a hotel.

Investigators said the dark gray 7 Series BMW, which bears New Jersey plates, was one of 19 brought to Detroit for company officials to use during the auto show's press week, WXYZ-TV, Detroit, reported Thursday.

Police said witnesses reported spotting two people jump into the car and drive away while the vehicles were being loaded onto a carrier in front of the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel for transport back to New Jersey.

Officers said the car is outfitted with BMW Assist, a feature they believe will eventually help them to locate the missing vehicle, WJBK-TV, Detroit, reported.
