TROCHU, Alberta, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- A Canadian farmer and his son said a fuel thief they caught on their property was hogtied with his bare butt in the air while awaiting police.

Tim Lynch and son Kris said they spotted a truck on their property, near Trochu, Alberta, Wednesday matching the tire tracks left during a previous fuel theft and the driver attempted to flee when confronted, the QMI Agency reported Monday.

"He put it in gear and put it to the floor," Kris Lynch said. "I jumped on the running board and held onto the steering wheel and reached in and grabbed the shift stick and held it in park."

He said the man attempted to drive while struggling, taking the truck across the yard before Lynch was able to pull him into the backseat and put him in a headlock.

Lynch said he and his father tied up the suspect only to discover he was wearing pajama pants without underwear and "his bare ass was hanging out." That's the way the alleged culprit stayed until police arrived about 40 minutes later, he said.

Police said the suspect, whose name was not released, was charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime.
