BATAVIA, Ohio, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- An Ohio man said he was overjoyed to learn an honest-minded waitress had turned in the $1,200 cash he accidentally left on a table.

Fred Smith of Batavia said he met his daughter and her husband for dinner at Walt's Barbecue the Saturday before Christmas and he apparently left his bank envelope containing $1,200 for gifts on the table, WLWT-TV, Cincinnati, reported Wednesday.

Smith said it took him two days to realize the money was gone and he frantically began calling everywhere he had been in recent days in an attempt to track down the cash. He said he called Walt's and was told waitress Tricia Ayers had turned the money in immediately after he had left the eatery.

"It's nice to know there are still honest people in this world. (It's) great she did this. I wish I was a millionaire; I would give her a million bucks," Smith said.
