OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma City church fueled the Christmas spirit by giving away gasoline this weekend.

The Net Church congregation pumped out $15,000 worth of gas Saturday morning, The Oklahoman reported.

"This is all tithes from our people," said the Rev. Joel Tudman. "We wish we could fill up the cars, but we can't, so we wanted to give everybody $20 worth of free gas."

Cars began lining up at the gas station at 3 a.m., and volunteers started pumping around 7:30, he said.

They had anticipated giving away $8,000 worth of gas, but at 9:15 a.m., Tudman kicked in another $7,000.

At $20 apiece, 750 people received free gas.

"I'm a firm believer in giving things away. That's what the Bible says," the pastor said.

Judy Huntley ran out of gas while waiting. An SUV pushed her car down the street, and volunteers wheeled it up to the pump.

"I started not to come," she said. "I didn't have much gas, but I said a prayer, and something told me to come. I didn't think I'd make it, and I didn't. The lady behind me pushed me."
