CASERTA, Italy, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Italy said they had to evade a white python to plant listening devices near the cocaine stash of a drug ring in the Neapolitan Camorra mafia.
Investigators said in announcing the arrests of 25 suspects in Caserta that officers had to sneak past the snake, which alleged drug ring members used to protect their cocaine stash, to plant listening bugs, ANSA reported Monday.
Police said arrests were made after clients began using the "huge" quantities of cocaine in the stash.
Rome police said an albino python was previously found guarding a cocaine stash in August. Officers had to feed the snake a whole chicken to prevent it from attacking.
