NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- New York police said two muggers held up the owners of a pizzeria and made off with a bag containing the wrong kind of dough -- actual pizza dough.

Authorities said Salvatore LaRosa, 25, who surrendered to authorities Friday and was released Monday on $1 million bail, allegedly followed the owners of Brother's Pizzeria home and confronted them in their driveway. He and an accomplice demanded a bag they believed to contain cash, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

One of the victims resisted during the June 30, 2008, incident and was shot in both legs, the recently released records said. It was unclear whether LaRosa or the other suspect, who has yet to be identified, was the shooter.

However, the thieves did not get the last laugh, investigators said.

"The bag that was stolen contained pizza dough," Drug Enforcement Administration agent Kristie Osswald said.
