PITTSBURGH, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- At 90-years-old, Pittsburgh lawyer Elizabeth Bailey is Pennsylvania's oldest practicing attorney, the state's Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court said.

Bailey specializes in adoption, real estate and estate administration cases and has worked out of the same Murrysville's Ferri Pharmacy building she's had since 1978, toiling on a desk where a jar of jelly beans sit for clients to dip into, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Sunday.

She didn't start out wanting to be a lawyer.

"I taught school at Westview High School (now North Hills), and taught the eighth grade," she said. "I decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with the eighth grade. It was sort of negative," Bailey said.

So in 1943 she started going to Duquesne University's School of Law at nights and in 1948 she graduated into a career lasting decades where she ended up teaching anyway.

"She has never stopped teaching generations of lawyers in both Westmoreland and Allegheny counties what it means for all of us to be a prepared advocate for our clients, while at the same time a gentle woman," Murrysville District Judge Charles Conway said.

"I do what I feel like doing," Bailey said. "In the summertime, I belong to a golf league. Thursday mornings, we play golf and that's it, I'm not here. Now golf league is over, so I'm here (in the office)."

"As long as I'm enjoying it, I'm not going to retire," Bailey said.
