HILLSBORO, Ore., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Organizers of an Oregon rat show said hundreds of rodent lovers, owners and breeders turned up for the event.
RatsPacNW, which organized the Come Fall for Rats show Saturday at the Washington County Fair Complex in Hillsboro, said hundreds of people paid $6 to view and participate in the rat show, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Monday.
"It's like a dog show, but for rats," organizer Kimber Conway said. "After all, of all the rodents, rats are the most like dogs."
Attendees expressed similar sentiments.
One of those hopefuls is a 12-year-old girl who had pet rats when she was 8 years old.
"They're so smart," Tianna Hill said. "I taught them to come when I called their names -- it took a while because they were boys and were lazy -- but they were so cute and cuddly. They also never bit me. I hate it when people think rats are gross, they're not. They're just great pets."
