Pants, dye pack impede robber

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The FBI said an Ohio bank robber was slowed by his saggy pants and prevented from stealing money by an exploding dye pack.

Investigators said the suspect, described as a thin, black male in his 20s, entered a Chase Bank branch in Columbus shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, displayed a gun and ordered everyone to the floor, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported Wednesday.

The FBI said the gunman grabbed a female employee by the hair and threw her in a chair and hit a male employee on the head with the butt of his gun. The workers were not seriously injured.

A teller filled the bag with money, concealing a dye pack among the loot, investigators said. The suspect, who witnesses said was slowed by his saggy pants, dropped the bag outside of the bank after the dye pack exploded.
