Police said Bonds argued with the teenagers, ages 16 and 17, at about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 while the youths were walking to a store in the Whitehaven neighborhood. Officers said Bonds pulled a black semiautomatic pistol from his waistband and fired shots at the youths while they ran away.

One of the bullets struck the 17-year-old in his buttock and exited through his thigh. He was taken to Methodist South Hospital and transferred to the Regional Medical Center.
