CHICAGO, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A Chicago psychiatrist says the city has a rapidly growing singles population due to courtship habits and seasonal factors.

Dr. Paul Dobransky, who runs $2,000 "boot camps" for singles seeking dating help, called a "news conference" Friday to explain Chicago's dating problem, at which he offered no hard data to support, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.

"There's no organizing principle around how we do things here socially for the purpose of eventually finding durable love, as opposed to just hanging out or hooking up," Dobransky said.

He said the city's seasons also play a factor.

"If you haven't coupled up by November for a winter romance, you might be kind of out of luck," Dobransky said. "It's so horribly cold, a lot of people don't like leaving home and it's too much to go out."
