INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, Fla., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A Florida woman said she is searching for the man who purchased a fish-water aerator from a thrift shop because it contained her son's $900 savings.

Lisa Edwards, 46, said she was cleaning her house Sept. 8 and donated the aerator from the bedroom of her son, Zachary, 17, to the Candlelighters of Brevard Thrift Shoppe in Indian Harbour Beach because it appeared to be unused, Florida Today reported Wednesday.

However, Edwards said her son later arrived home and informed her the aerator was his hiding place for the $900 he had made delivering pizzas.

"It's my mistake, and my son is paying for it," said Edwards, who recently lost her job and has cancer in remission. "But it's a lesson learned, and something good came of it: I'm blown away by the community support."

Edwards said many people have come forward with offers of money to help regain the sum, but she is holding out in the hopes that the man who purchased the item from the thrift store will return the cash.

"I'm still of the hope that he will come forward," she said. "I believe in the goodness of people."
