SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Officials with the San Francisco Giants said fans will attempt a kazoo-playing world record as part of a tribute to Jerry Garcia.

The officials said "Jerry Garcia Tribute Night" will feature Garcia's former Grateful Dead band mate Mickey Hart leading more than 7,000 fans in a kazoo version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch as part of a Guinness World Record attempt, the Bay City News Service reported Monday.

The event, which marks the 15th anniversary of the musician's death, will also feature Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia cover bands performing some of his best-known songs prior to the game against the Chicago Cubs. The national anthem is scheduled to be performed by Grateful Dead member Bob Weir.

A portion of ticket sales from Monday's game will go to the Rex Foundation, a Garcia family organization supporting grassroots causes.
