MIDDLEBURG, Fla., July 19 (UPI) -- A Florida couple who bonded over a mutual love of competitive eating said the bride took the prize at their wedding day cake-eating contest.

Hall Hunt, 28, of Clay County, the No. 9-ranked competitive eater in the world, said he met Emily Wright, 26, on a blind date in 2008 and was relieved to find she was fascinated, rather than disgusted, by his hobby, which he said gave him the ability to consume 63 Krystal burgers in 8 minutes, The Jacksonville (Fla.) Times-Union reported Monday.

The couple said it wasn't long before Wright took on competitive eating herself and Hunt popped the question in November 2008.

Hunt said they celebrated their mutual interest at their June 12 wedding at Good Samaritan Anglican Church in Middleburg by serving Krystal burgers to guests and hosting a wedding cake eating contest between the newlyweds and special guest Joey Chestnut, the world's No. 1-ranked competitive eater.

"We surprised everyone," said Emily, who won the contest by downing the most cake in 30 seconds.
