Police: Drunk man took mower on highway

MADRID, Iowa, July 8 (UPI) -- Police in Iowa said they arrested a man who was erratically driving a riding lawnmower on a highway after midnight with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.19.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office said Robert Grimstad, 38, was pulled over just before 1 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of 300th Street and Iowa Highway 17, near Madrid, the Des Moines Register reported Thursday.

Deputies said Grimstad's blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.19, much higher than the legal limit of 0.08 for operating a motor vehicle.

Grimstad, who told deputies he was picking up cans, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. He has previously been charged with the offense on two occasions, authorities said.
