SPARKS, Nev., May 17 (UPI) -- Officials in a Nevada city said a pair of road signs bearing the same glaring spelling mistake are being removed and replaced by contractors.
Sparks officials said the signs, which misspelled the word "yield" to create the message "Yeild to bikes," are being replaced after the typos were pointed out by local news outlets and a Thursday night segment on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal reported Monday.
"Our contractor made an honest mistake," said Lance Semenko, senior vice president of Q&D Construction, which is working on the roads where the signs were located. "The contractor bought and installed the signs and didn't notice."
"I was surprised it was (on TV)," Semenko said. "It was an honest mistake that could happen to anybody."
