Police: Severed hand made of rubber

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 26 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio said a severed hand discovered in the back of a pickup truck was found to be made of rubber by a coroner's office investigator.

Columbus police Sgt. Darren Kane said a Franklin County coroner's office investigator arrived on the scene Sunday and verified the hand found by Bob Anderson, 51, was made of rubber, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported Monday.

Anderson said the truck belonged to a friend's deceased father and he and his brother, Butch, took it to their home for repairs. He said they found the hand behind the front seat and called police because they were concerned it might be real.

Kane said a stench from trash and a dead animal in the vehicle gave the impression the hand may have been real and decomposing.
