Abby Toll, 21, walked with her lawyer through a group of protesters in Boulder calling for "zero tolerance" for animal abuse on her way to a Boulder courtroom Monday to face a felony animal cruelty charge, KMGH-TV, Denver, reported Tuesday. Advertisement Toll was arrested April 14, 2009, and accused of taping her boyfriend's 2-year-old Shiba Inu to a refrigerator with clear packing tape during an argument. The boyfriend, Bryan Beck, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor attempted animal cruelty last year and received a one-year deferred sentence. Police said he was arrested for leaving the dog taped to the appliance while continuing the argument with Toll. Toll could face up to 18 months in jail if convicted. Authorities said the dog has been adopted by a new family.
