SOWERBY BRIDGE, England, April 13 (UPI) -- A British woman said her set of heated hair rollers is still in perfect working condition after 40 years, or about 14,600 sessions.
Sue Peel, 60, of Sowerby Bridge, England, said she received the Carmen Delux Rollers as a 21st birthday present in 1971 and they have held up to daily use ever since, leading the company to declare her set the longest-lasting rollers created by Carmen, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.
"I haven't had any hairy moments with them, there are 20 in the set and I haven't even lost any," Peel said. "I love the variety of styles you can do, my hair is quite fine and if I didn't use them it would just stick to my head."
Peel said Russell Hobbs, Carmen's parent company, sent her some brand-new rollers in recognition of her set's longevity.
"I haven't used the new set I was sent yet, I think it will be quite strange," she said. "I will have a go, but looking at the box they don't seem to be as good because they are compact and don't come with a mirror. I'm going to be really sad the day my rollers stop working on me, I don't own anything else that is so old."
