LA PLATA, Argentina, April 13 (UPI) -- Workers at Argentinean farms said a pair of escaped convicts have been spotted evading police by disguising themselves as sheep.

Residents and farm workers said convicted robbers Maximiliano Pereyra, 25, and Ariel Diaz, 28, who police said escaped from a Buenos Aires province maximum security prison last week, have been seen running through fields at night dressed in sheepskin fleeces, Britain's The Sun reported Tuesday.

"They were wearing grey clothes but had full sheepskins, including the sheeps' heads, over their heads and backs," a worker at the La Almeda farm said.

Police said about 300 officers are searching for the escaped pair, but officials said it would be "almost impossible" to find them while they are hiding among thousands of sheep.

However, "they can't pull the wool over our eyes forever," a police source told The Sun.
