The facility, about a 75-minute drive from Halifax, was built in 1983 and then shut down in 2006, The (Halifax) Chronicle-Herald reported Wednesday. Advertisement Sales agent George Kimber said its current owner, who doesn't want to be identified, bought the site from the Defense Department after it was closed. A private paved road leads to a double-gated security fence and guardhouse. The 10,000-square-foot building contains a sterile biotech laboratory, a workshop, living quarters, a kitchen, laundry room and four sleeping quarters, Kimber said. It also has backup power generators and a very large, golf ball-shaped satellite cover. "Somebody might want to have their own television station," Kinber said. "It's got a satellite dish that's got digital broadband. There's a bunch of different uses for it." Photographs and information about the facility can be viewed at www.gwkimberent.com.
