HAINES CITY, Fla., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- A suspected Florida car thief was arrested while playing the video game "Grand Theft Auto," authorities say.

Polk County, Fla., Sheriff Grady Judd said detectives had tracked a car stolen in Sebring to an address in Haines City where they found suspect Michael Ray Ekes, 30, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Judd said they arrested Ekes while he was playing the popular video game about stealing cars, adding he was already out on bail on two previous real-life counts of grand theft auto.

"Crime is not a game," Judd told the Sentinel. "Real-life crime has real life consequences -- and I hope he goes to prison for a good long while, where they don't have 'Grand Theft Auto' video games."

The newspaper said Ekes was charged with burglary of a conveyance, grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools with intent to use, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
