SACRAMENTO, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- A California woman said a gas station lost her business when an employee wrote "black lady big fat" as identifying information on a receipt.

Helen Hodges, 31, said a gas pump mix-up led to her being shorted $10 Thursday night at the Sacramento gas station. She found when she returned to the business that a $10 bill was waiting for her with an attached receipt bearing the offensive identifier, KXTV, Sacramento, reported Monday.

"It says 'black lady,' and I can understand that because I am a black lady," Hodges said. "But I don't get 'big fat.' I don't get that part."

Hodges said the incident was particularly offensive to her because her 6-year-old son saw the message. She said she has attempted to contact the manager but has yet to receive an apology.

"The lesson they should learn is my money helps run that store," Hodges said. "And I won't be going back."
