EAST HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Connecticut recovered a stolen 32-foot boat after it fell from a trailer as the suspected thief headed up Interstate 95.
The driver, Patrick Holland, 38, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree larceny and reckless endangerment, The Hartford Courant reported. He faces a number of other charges and driving citations.
East Haven police allege Holland stole the Boston Whaler valued at $175,000 Wednesday afternoon from Diamond Marine in East Haven. He allegedly fasted the boat's trailer to his pickup truck and took off, with police following him.
The boat slipped from the trailer, blocking the highway. Holland attempted to get away on foot but was captured with the help of sniffer dogs.
He was being held on $100,000 bond.
