CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio, May 9 (UPI) -- A Cleveland Heights, Ohio, preacher befuddled congregants when he began passing out money rather than passing the collection plate.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Rev. John Lentz at Forest Hill Church had ushers disburse $15,000 among the congregation, handing each worshiper a red envelope containing a $50 bill.

"I was stunned," said Chessie Bleick, who was at the Sunday worship service at the Presbyterian church in late March. "Everybody was kind of panicked, saying, 'What am I going to do with this?' "

Then Lentz told the biblical parable about the master who, before embarking on a long journey, left behind sums of money for each of his servants.

When the master returned, he discovered the first two servants worked their shares, making more money for their master. The third servant, however, failed to take a risk and simply buried his money, making nothing for his master.
