NEW YORK, May 7 (UPI) -- Angry customers at a New York KFC restaurant that refused to honor coupons from the restaurant's Web site staged a sit-in at the eatery until police arrived.
The manager of the KFC restaurant near Grand Central Station in Manhattan said the restaurant was not honoring the free food coupons because the location was overwhelmed with the number of customers Wednesday, the New York Post reported Thursday.
Customers staged a sit-in to protest the coupon moratorium until police arrived and broke up the demonstration.
The restaurant manager, who did not give his name, said all coupons would be honored at the restaurant Thursday.
The incident was not the first trouble the coupons have caused for KFC. The chicken chain's Web site crashed Tuesday from the massive traffic caused by customers attempting to print their coupons before they were taken down at midnight Wednesday morning.
The operators of the site posted a message Wednesday apologizing for the technical difficulties.
