KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 22 (UPI) -- Police in Missouri said they found a trailer that was used to steal 34,000 pounds of chicken parts, but the poultry remains missing.

Kansas City police said they followed a tracking device in the trailer, which was stolen along with the chicken from Arkansas-based Simmons Foods, and found it on an industrial property alongside five other trailers that investigators believe were also stolen, the Kansas City Star reported Wednesday.

Investigators said one of the trailers contained snack foods, but the pilfered chicken, which was valued at $60,000, was nowhere to be found.

"There's a lot of chicken out there," said Sgt. Keith Ericsson. "There is a public safety concern because we don't know how it is being transported or kept. It's not being regulated."
