DALLAS, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys released cornerback and kick returner Adam "Pacman" Jones Monday.

The Cowboys announced their intent to cut ties with Jones last month but an official move could not be made until Monday, which is the first day teams are allowed to release players.

Jones, 25, went from the Titans to the Cowboys in late April -- while still suspended because of numerous run-ins with the law -- in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Jones was reinstated by the NFL in June 2008 after the one-year banishment and saw time in nine games for Dallas, recording 26 tackles and three fumble recoveries last season.

In October Jones had an altercation with his bodyguard that led to a six-game suspension.

In his three-year NFL career, Jones has 147 tackles, six fumble recoveries, four interceptions and a defensive touchdown in 39 games. The West Virginia product also has 807 punt return yards with four scores and 1,803 kick return yards.
