FORT PIERCE, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old Fort Pierce, Fla., boy tried to bribe his mother with a $5 bill to refrain from calling the police after he hit her with a saw, police said.
The boy faces an aggravated battery charge, The Fort Pierce Tribune reported.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department said that the boy and his mother had an argument Wednesday morning because he refused to take his medication. He bicycled to another house where his mother found him hitting a tree with the saw.
The boy then allegedly hit his mother, cutting her head. When he saw what he had done, she said he pulled out $5 and offered it to her.
Family members say he has a history of violent behavior. His sister, who is pregnant, said that he threatened to perform a "C-section" with a fork and tried to use hairspray and a lighter to set a cat on fire.
His brother-in-law said he found the boy researching bomb manufacture on the Internet.
