'Superman' goes bad on Halloween

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Superman, the "Man of Steel," Friday night became the "Man of Steal," taking part in a New York home intrusion robbery, police say.

Nassau police said three men dressed in Halloween costumes -- one as the comic book superhero Superman -- showed up at a home about 7 p.m., rang the door bell and announced "trick or treat." They then assaulted the man who answered the door, put a pillowcase over his head and taped his hands and hit him before robbing him of an unknown amount of cash and other belongings and fleeing, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

"Superman" was armed with a handgun, police said. The victim wasn't able to identify the other robbers' costumes.

The thieves were still at large.
