An East Jerusalem woman, Majda Arfa'iyeh, came in second place in the quiz, which included questions about the Koran and Muslim traditions, won $1,657 for her second place finish.

Yasser Atila, head of Israel Radio's Arabic programming, said the quiz was modeled after the annual Bible quiz on Israel's independence day.

"We are working on quizzes for Christians and Druze. Our goal is to have an encounter between cultures and promote peace and understanding among the various religions," Atila said.
