UMEA, Sweden, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A Swedish couple demanded their newborn daughter be given a new personal identity number after she was assigned a number ending with 666.
The couple from Umea said their baby received the number containing 666 -- known as the "Number of the Beast" in the biblical book of Revelations -- after her birth was registered with the Swedish Tax Authority, the Swedish news agency TT reported Monday.
"Our little girl isn't a wicked beast and shouldn't have to suffer for having the symbolism in her personal identity number," the girl's father said.
However, the parents said the Tax Authority and the county administrative court have thus far refused their demand.
About 100 newborn girls in Sweden end up with 666 in their identity numbers each year, TT reported.
