NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- The black and white dress that Michelle Obama wore on "The View" is now a hot number with a New York designer struggling to fill orders.

Obama, wife of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was a guest host on the ABC daytime talk show Wednesday. She revealed to viewers that she had purchased the dress for $148 from a store called White House Black Market.

The dress was designed by Donna Ricco, who has a business on Seventh Avenue in New York, the city's fabled Garment District.

"All of a sudden our phones were ringing off the hooks," Ricco told the New York Daily News. "Everyone wanted this dress."

Ricco is struggling to fill 2,000 orders. She had 78 copies of the dress in stock.

The dress has also brought a lot of traffic to the Fifth Avenue dress shop.

"I saw it on 'The View' but didn't make the connection until I saw it in the store window as we were walking down Fifth Avenue," Joy Pruet, a visitor from Alabama, said. "It fits me perfectly. Michelle Obama has great taste."
